Heinous Hernia is also called hiatal hernia or hiatus hernia.  It is caused by a weakness in the entrance to the stomach and diaphram, as a result, the top of the stomach is partially pushed above the diaphram forming the hernia.  The symptoms are not noticeable in most cases. However, the sliding hiatal hernia usually have symptoms related to acide reflux, or gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD).

From a Chinese medicine perspective, hernia is caused by weakness in the spleen system.  Of course, the stomach system is part of the root cause of heinous hernia.  Treatments need to focus on strengthening the spleen and stomach system, but also extends to adjusting the diet and eating habits.  The liver system may need to be addressed if the patient experiences high levels of stress from work or other sources.  The recovery rate is very high if all these aspects addressed.

Irritable bowel syndrome (IBS or spastic colon) is a diagnosis of exclusion. It is a functional bowel disorder characterized by chronicabdominal pain, discomfort, bloating, and alteration of bowel habits in the absence of any detectable organic cause. In some cases, the symptoms are relieved by bowel movements. Diarrhea or constipation may predominate, or they may alternate (classified as IBS-D, IBS-Cor IBS-A, respectively). IBS may begin after an infection (post-infectious, IBS-PI), a stressful life event, or onset of maturity without any other medical indicators.
