Depending on the constitution of the body, Wind can cause illness from mild to severe.  Mild illnesses include headaches, vertigo, sinus congestions and numbness or pain in the neck, face and other parts of the body.  Severe illnesses can include Bell's Palsy and severe headaches.

Like wind in nature, the symptoms of Wind can move and travel.  Pain can travel to different parts of the body and such pain is usually not detectable by Western medicine diagnosis.

TCM treatments for Wind illnesses require the elimination of the Wind in the body, either with acupuncture or Chinese herbs.  If the patient is deficient in Qi, Blood or Yang, they will need to be tonified in the right areas.  In addition, if the patient is constantly exposed to external wind, she will need to relocate or alter the environment.  For instance, someone working at a desk with a ventilator blowing at her head will need to move her desk or turn down the airflow at the ventilator.
